Rainforests

1. Tropical forests are forests which are typically found in places where rainfall occurs perpetually. Ex : The Amazon Rainforest, Congo Rainforest and the Southeast Asian Rainforest.


2. Rainforests forests have different types:

 Temperate Rainforests - Also known as 'Broadleaf rainforests', they are situated in the     temperate zone.

 Montane rainforests - Also known as 'Cloud rainforests', they are situated in the     hilly   areas.

 Flooded rainforests - It is the rainforest flood due to rivers and it can cause damage to   the rainforests.

3. Tropical rainforests occupy less than 3% of area in the surface of the Earth. Despite this they are the shelter for many living beings.


4. The rainforests comprises most of the trees in the world.

There are many kind of trees which supply food to the inhabitants and fresh water. As there are so many trees, hence, causes huge amount of rainfall. There are also some medicinal trees which cure!

As there are many trees and plants, they absorb huge amounts of carbon and by the the process of photosynthesis they release the fresh air (i.e. oxygen). This shortens the rate of Global Warming.

      

7. The rainforests are demolished.

The rainforests have been destroyed drastically by years and years. The main causes of the deforestation is : Logging (i.e. Cutting of trees), Inhabitation and Agricuture in forests and Mining. The demand for minerals and space have been increased and the residing of people has started in forests.

8.  0.25 of people rely on these rainforests for livelihoods.

 Many people depend on the products of forest to live and the forests are the shelter to them. They get food, clothes and other things from the forests and also do agriculture, rearing and selling products from forests to earn money. Many indigenous people also live here.




9. The layers of the tropical rainforest. 

    It has the 4 layers - Forest floor, Shrub layer, Canopy and Emergent layer. 



Forest layer is where we live in forests. Shrub layer has young trees and some insects. The canopy has tall trees which is about 40 meters. The emergent layer has enormous trees which makes the forest dense and causing the difficulty for sunshine to pass through the trees.


10. Protecting Rainforests.

Government have taken steps to conserve these natural rainforests. Protection of rainforests have been spread widely.
