Facebook's New Graph Search

Today(July 8th) Facebook rolls out its new Graph Search tool to all American users. This new feature allows users to conduct advanced searches with metadata stored on Facebook — an example might be "Friends who like Harry Potter," or "Photos before 1990" or "Restaurants in Tokyo liked by my friends."

In short,Graph search tool allows you to search for people, photos, places and things your friends "like."

 Facebook says in blog post,

"Over the past few months, tens of millions of people have helped improve the product just by using it and giving feedback."

The improvements range from the speed of search to accuracy. Now when you begin typing in a search it will begin suggesting more relevant potential searches. Additionally, the company says it can better understand what people are searching for and will display the most relevant results first.

It is also working on making posts or status updates and comments searchable.

At first, Graph Search will come to people in the US and others who use the Facebook website in American English. The rollout will reportedly take a few weeks to reach all of those, and there is no information about when the feature might come to other countries and languages. The mobile version is also still in the works. So the Graph Search only works on the full Facebook website at present.
